Preliminary Election Results on Ballot Measures and Key Races

Preliminary Election Results on Ballot Measures and Key Races

*Results as of November 4, 2026

Ballot measures endorsed by CMA and/or ACCMA, along with CMA’s endorsed statewide candidates, appear to be headed towards positive outcomes. However, ballot counting continues, and results remain preliminary. The California Secretary of State will certify results by December 11, 2026.

Ballot Measures

Proposition 3 (CMA supports): Leading with 58.5% voting yes. The measure would permanently extend income taxes on the highest earners to preserve funding for health care and other essential services.

Proposition 39 (CMA opposes): Trailing with 58.9% voting no. The measure would add voter identification requirements that could create barriers for eligible voters.

Proposition 40 (CMA and ACCMA oppose): Trailing with 56.3% voting no. The proposed onetime billionaire tax does not guarantee additional health care funding and could replace existing commitments.

Proposition 44 (CMA and ACCMA oppose): Trailing with 82.2% voting no. The measure’s restrictive spending requirements and financial penalties would threaten community clinics and patient access.

Berkeley Measure AA (ACCMA supports): Leading with 76.27% voting yes. The measure would increase the sodadistributor tax from one to two cents per ounce and dedicate revenue to school cooking, gardening, and community health programs.

CMA-Endorsed Statewide Candidates

CMA reports victories for the following endorsed candidates, with preliminary vote shares shown below:

  • Governor: Xavier Becerra — 64.6%

  • Lieutenant Governor: Fiona Ma — 64.1%

  • State Treasurer: Eleni Kounalakis — 64.2%

  • Attorney General: Rob Bonta (incumbent) — 64.0%

East Bay Races

CALPAC-endorsed candidate Scott Sakakihara appears to be headed for election to the open 10th State Senate District seat with 72.4% of the vote. The seat was previously held by Aisha Wahab.

Congresswoman Aisha Wahab is leading her reelection bid in the 14th Congressional District with 56.53% of the vote, following her special election victory earlier this year.

All other incumbents seeking reelection to Congress and the Legislature in Alameda and Contra Costa counties also appear headed for reelection.
