CMA-Sponsored Legislation Advances
Several CMA-sponsored bills have cleared either the Assembly or Senate and continue to make their way through the legislative process. Among them, AB 2470, which cleared the Assembly, would mandate an independent review of any decisions by insurers to cancel coverage for patients who get very sick - a vital safeguard to ensure insurers are complying with the new federal ban on rescissions. AB 2093, which has also advanced out of the Assembly, would protect insured families from having to pay out-of-pocket for vaccinations and requires that doctors be fully reimbursed for the cost. The legislation is crucial for safeguarding public health and improving vaccination rates in California. Click
