Blue Shield Will Reprocess Improperly Denied Claims
CMA recently learned that Blue Shield of California incorrectly denied payment for an undetermined number of claims with dates of service of January 1 to March 13 because it failed to add the new 2009 CPT codes into its claims payment system.  Claims submitted with any of the 225 new CPT codes for 2009, a list of which can be accessed here, are affected. Blue Shield notified CMA recently that all codes have now been successfully loaded into its claims payment system. At CMA’s urging, Blue Shield has agreed to automatically reprocess all affected claims so that physicians do not need to appeal or resubmit claims.
