Recently, two major labor unions – AFSCME California PEOPLE and the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD) – announced their strong opposition to the trial attorneys' anti-MICRA ballot initiative, stating that the initiative served the interests of lawyers, not consumers. The two unions join the growing list of over 1,000 California public entities and organizations who have announced their formal opposition to the MICRA initiative and expressed concerns about its impact on costs, patient access and California’s overall health delivery system.
