Physicians who attested through the federal electronic health record (EHR) incentive program will soon receive letter from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) contractor Figliozzi and Co. requesting documentation to support stage 1 meaningful use attestation. The letters generally request that physicians provide evidence that they are using certified EHR technology, their method of reporting emergency department admissions, and documentation that the attestation module for the core set and menu set objectives and measures was completed.

Physician practices who receive such a letter should consider contacting a Regional Extension Center such as CalHIPSO (, their EHR vendor or a consultant for assistance.
