Anthem Blue Cross has rescinded their modifier 25 payment policy as of Friday, February 23, 2018. This is a significant victory for ACCMA/CMA and all of organized medicine who fought to overturn this policy since its introduction in November 2017. The policy was scheduled to be implemented on March 1. The financial impact would have been felt immediately by the specialities of Dermatology, ENT, Urology, and others. Anthem's policy would have reduced reimbursement of evaluation and management (E/M) services billed with modifier 25 in conjunction with a minor surgical procedure. This policy would have provided a basis for other payors to implement a similar policy as well. To read more, go to
