A draft plan to improve the exchange of clinical data among hospitals, clinics, physicians, and patients has been released by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). The plan seeks to bridge the gap between physicians’ and patients’ information systems and enable health information networks to share patient data. If successful, physicians would be able to query their patients’ health information regardless of where it is stored. The California Medical Association (CMA) and the American Medical Association (AMA) have been advocating for the mandate and enforcement of EHR interoperability. ONC will hold a webinar about the proposed framework on Thursday, February 15 from 10:30 to 11:30 am. To register, go to https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/8216522139988024834.
