A study published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings report that physicians are 20 percent less likely to seek treatment for a mental health condition if their state medical board asks broad questions about their mental health history on license applications or renewals. The study suggests that physicians often self-treat or avoid care for mental health because they are concerned it will affect their license to practice.
