A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that doctor-approved medical exemptions from vaccines tripled in 2016, the first year the law that eliminated personal-belief exemptions went into effect. Parents may be accessing medical exemptions through websites that publish the names of California doctors who may be more inclined to sign off on exemptions. Overall, immunizations rates have risen from 92.8 percent in 2015–2016 to 95.6 percent in 2016–2017. To read the JAMA article, go to https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/article-abstract/2652640.
