Recently released polling puts Prop 46 at 58 percent “Yes” and 30 percent “No.”  These poll numbers define our challenge.  While they come from early polling and did not fully disclose the negative consequences Prop. 46 will have for health care costs, access to care, and personal privacy, they illustrate the significant task we have of informing voters of all these negative consequences.  This is why physicians need to be fully engaged in this battle, both as personal advocates and financial supporters of the campaign.  

As evidenced by the growing bipartisan list of organizations opposing Prop. 46, once voters understand the facts about Prop. 46 they no longer support it.   TV and radio ads have begun statewide, and a direct mail campaign in underway.  In addition, a major grassroots campaign is underway locally to deliver our message. Physicians are a critical part of our strategy of reaching voters.
